Women’s Resources
When we talk about women: we include all women! We recognize that women’s health and advocacy research is needed by more than just cisgender women (women whose gender aligns with their assigned sex at birth). Trans women are often left out of women’s health conversations, and trans men and non-binary people also have health needs that our work addresses.
Loud Women Collective
The Loud Women Collective is a grassroots movement promoting equality, inclusivity and body positivity through creative engagement and education. We began in March of 2019 as the Loud Women Book Club, and launched our line of tees on International Women’s Day in 2020.
Ontario Native Women’s Association (ONWA)
The Ontario Native Women’s Association (ONWA) is a not for profit organization to empower and support all Indigenous women and their families in the province of Ontario through research, advocacy, policy development and programs that focus on local, regional and provincial activities.
Northwestern Women’s Centre
The Northwestern Ontario Women’s Centre (NOWC) was founded in the spring of 1973, following an event called the Northern Women’s Conference organized by local women’s consciousness-raising groups. Over the years, countless projects, initiatives and organizations have emerged as a result of women organizing together through the auspices of the Centre.
Thunder Bay Health Unit – Birth Control Services
We believe that everyone has the right to choose the birth control method that is right for them. Our role at the Thunder Bay District Health Unit’s Sexual Health Clinic is to:
Help provide birth control options and education.
Provide easier, low-cost access to certain types of birth control.
NOTE: Birth control methods including the pill, the patch, or even pulling out do not protect individuals against sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The only way to prevent getting an STI is by not having sex or any sexual contact.
Breast Health Screening Coach
Held 2- 3 days throughout the month from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The bus parks in the Thunder Bay 55 Plus Centre parking lot.
Please contact 807-684-7777 to schedule an appointment.
There is no cost for the program; however, participants must be 50 plus.
