A Little About US

Founded in 2010 as a small planning committee, Thunder Pride Association is a community-based, volunteer-run non-profit serving Thunder Bay, Ontario, and communities across Northern Ontario. Our first Pride events were held in 2011, with the Pride Parade added in 2013.

Today, Thunder Pride brings together 2SLGBTQIA+ community members, families, friends, and allies who are united in creating a safer, more inclusive, and more vibrant region for everyone.

In 2026, Thunder Pride welcomed a brand-new board, bringing fresh perspectives and new energy to the organization. We’re excited about the direction we’re heading and the plans we’re building toward as we move into 2026/2027 growing our community presence, strengthening our programming, and continuing to create meaningful spaces for connection, celebration, and support.

  • We are a 2SLGBTQIA+ Community that supports all people of Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario  to grow into an inclusive and diverse community.

  • Thunder Pride hosts the annual Pride Festival and Parade, along with year-round events that celebrate 2SLGBTQIA+ identities, foster connection, and build safer spaces across the city and region. We organize community gatherings, educational and awareness initiatives, and visibility campaigns, and we help connect people to local resources and support. Through this work, we strive to ensure that Pride isn’t just a single weekend—it lives here in Thunder Bay every day.

  • Thunder Pride brings people together and supports our community year-round. We host events like coffee nights, our Trans Remembrance Day vigil, and the Pride Festival, and we’re always looking to grow with new activities like film screenings, workshops, and creative community nights. On the advocacy side, we focus on educational programming through our social media and website resources—helping to inform, support, and amplify the voices of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Thunder Bay, Ontario and Northwestern Ontario.
